School Branch

July was a busy month at the Center. Interest in the School Branch National Water Quality Initiative watershed continues to grow, and we were finalizing plans for instrumentation at the Starkey Farms Edge of Field sites, and working through the logistics of watershed sampling.

Last December we announced that we were building on over ten years of research in the Eagle Creek watershed by developing a long-term partnership to monitor water quality and quantity in School Branch, a small (8.4 mi2) subwatershed of the Eagle Creek Watershed. Last Friday we launched the project with a field tour of the project watershed.

We try to avoid cross-posting on the CEES and FEH websites. CEES involvement in the Indiana Fluvial Erosion Hazard (FEH) Mitigation Program is most often discussed on the FEH website – but sometimes FEH projects are at the intersection of science, policy, and art, and then we want to share them with a broader audience. The CEES website is the place to do that.

IUPUI partnership improves health goals on Indy's Near Eastside

"Between spring 2011 and fall 2013, 80 students and 13 faculty members from 12 IUPUI degree-granting schools worked with 11 local nonprofits to accomplish 17 neighborhood research, technical assistance and internship projects -- all planned in collaboration with Near Eastside community members."
