The Importance of Pollinators
In 2007 the United States Senate unanimously approved the deignation of one week in June as National Pollinator Week. Initially used to draw attention to the urgent issues surrounding the decline in pollinator populations, Pollinator Week has grown over the years to become an international celebration of pollinators and the invaluable ecosystem services they provide.
This year, National Pollinator Week is June 17-23. More information can be found at the Pollinator Partnership. A variety of Citizen Science events, including KIB's Annual Pollinator Count, occur during Pollinator Week.
