March 7, M.S.D. of Pike Township Math and Science Community Fair

“What is a watershed?” K-12 students discovered the answer to this question and more while attending CEES’ booth at last Thursday’s M.S.D. of Pike Township Math and Science Community Fair.  CEES interns Robert Lugg and Scott Davidson assisted more than 50 students over the span of two hours construct their own watershed model. Students observed how water moves across and changes the landscape over time, described the difference between point and non-point source pollution, and learned about CEES’ work with fluvial erosion hazards, watershed restoration, and water quality monitoring.
The Math and Science Community Fair was an exciting event for CEES to be a part of: more than 60 activities were provided by teachers, students, and central Indiana STEM organizations! The evening was sponsored by M.S.D. of Pike Township Math and Science Initiative Grants. Big thank you to Kathleen Smith and Deb Teuscher for organizing the event!
