Oliver's Woods Nature Preserve is the 15th Nature Preserve for the Central Indiana Land Trust and the second one within the city of Indianapolis.  It is located at 8825 River Road, just north of the Fashion Mall.  The site is part woods and part prairie restoration with over 1.25 miles of frontage to the White River.  For more information, visit: http://www.conservingindiana.org/places-to-visit/olivers-woods-nature-preserve/

Work Day Description: We will join the Central Indiana Land Trust to remove invasive exotic plant species garlic mustard from the woodlands.

Directions and Meeting Location: From Keystone and 86th Street, go east to the second light for the Fashion Mall.  This is River Crossing Road.  (If you went over a big bridge, you missed the turn!)  Turn left, but then quickly turn right at the light within the Fashion Mall lot onto River Road.  Follow River Road less than about a ½ mile to a driveway on the right with a black mailbox (do not go over 465).  Turn right and follow this driveway to a grassy open area for parking; if it is full, turn right down another driveway parking along the drive.

Participants must wear clothes appropriate for outdoor field work.  Long pants and closed toe shoes are required (NO Crocs or Keens).  Water, granola bars, gloves, and equipment will be provided.

Additional Resources: Visit the environmental service learning Resources Link for information related to topics discussed during or related to service learning projects and work days. Please refer to your instructor's guidelines for specific requirements regarding course paper research.
