Watershed Location The Eagle Creek Watershed is defined as the geographic region with the 11 digit hydrologic unit code (HUC) designation 05120201120, as referenced by the United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resource Conservation Service and as delineated by the United States Geological Survey.  It is located approximately 10 miles northwest of downtown Indianapolis and runs through parts of Boone, Hamilton, Hendricks, and Marion counties.
Steering Committee

Provide guidance on overall strategic direction: make decisions, plan, and represent the watershed citizens and interests.

      Evaluate reports to be submitted to IDEM
Provide oversight to Subcommittees as necessary

Provide direction to Watershed Coordinator and Farm Promoter

The committee will need a:

  • Chair (to conduct/facilitate meetings)

  • Recorder (to take minutes)  

The steering committee shall be comprised of representatives from the grant sponsor, financial contributors, project partners, local governments, local land trust, and community individuals.  Members of the steering committee shall represent all major stakeholders in the watershed and must either live, work, have land holdings, own businesses, or conduct business within the boundaries of Eagle Creek Watershed.

Education/OutreachCommittee

 

Provide, review, and update content for ECWA website, Coordinate education team partnerships.

Content and distribution of educational brochures:

  • General education brochure

  • Watershed/NPS pollution brochure

  • Septic informational brochure

      Watershed Education Program – targets schools, watershed residents, and park patrons, Educational displays for Eagle Creek Park Nature Center, Highway sign installation, Water Quality Awareness Day
Comprised of project partners and interested groups. 

 Project groups will serve as subcommittees as necessary:

      o        MS4 education alignment group
o
        Septic education group
o
        Watershed/NPS education group
o
        Nature Center displays and education programs group
o
        Events planning group

Technical/Planning Committee

Cost Share Program
Assist farm promoter in identifying BMPs in the watershed
Assist farm promoter in promoting BMPs and farm management strategies in the watershed
Watershed (water quality) monitoring programs

      o   Document watershed conditions/progress
o
   Evaluate BMP effectiveness

      Comprised of project partners and interested groups. 

      Project groups will serve as subcommittees as necessary:

      o  Monitoring group
o
  Urban BMP group
o
  Ag BMP group

 

Communications Committee

 Notifies media of upcoming events and ECWA meetings
Create and distribute ECWA newsletter
Comprised of project partners and interested groups.   

·     Project groups will serve as subcommittees as necessary:

      o  Newsletter preparation
o
  Press releases/announcements
