The Center for Earth and Environmental Science (CEES) at IUPUI is offering an Environmental Service Learning in Mexico summer immersion experience in collaboration with the To Mexico with Love program.  To Mexico with Love provides IUPUI students with the opportunity to live in beautiful Cuernavaca, Mexico, attend the wonderful Spanish language school Ideal LatinoAmerica, and conduct service activities in the community. All students will also be able to travel to many extraordinary locations while in Mexico. The program runs for four weeks from May 15 through June 14, 2008.  The program is open to all majors, but student participants must meet a 2.7 minimum G.P.A. requirement and be enrolled in course credit through a participating department.

Each student participating through the environmental service learning program will have the opportunity to compare and evaluate water resources issues between central Indiana and central Mexico. Students will then apply water resources background information towards implementing environmental science education and outreach programs with teachers and youth in Cuernavaca schools and parks through Project WET activities. Students will receive three credits from the IUPUI Earth Sciences Department.  In addition to attending pre-departure meetings and orientation, environmental service learning participants will also attend one half day of training in Project WET (Water Education for Teachers).
