Zionsville Area Reorganization Plans Discussed
at ECWA Quarterly Meeting
There are plans for big changes in how southeastern Boone County
local governments operate. Come join us on Monday, March 24, 2008 at
the Zionsville Public Library (Hussey-Mayfield MemorialPublic
Library) as we welcome Gene Thompson, Chairman of Communities of the
Zionsville Area for Better Government (CZABG). Gene will discuss how
the Town of Zionsville, Eagle Township and Union Township, have
worked together to see if they can obtain greater efficiencies by
combining forces. The CZAGB Reorganization Committee conducted nine
meetings over the past eight months and has recently presented a
draft of its recommendation to the
local government of Eagle Township, Union Township and the Town of
Zionsville. The Zionsville area is one of a very few in the state
that is investigating Local Government Reform, and it is the
furthest along in the process. Mr. Thompson, as chairperson of the
Reorganization Committee will explain the process, its impact on the
planning process, and some interesting factors the committee had to
consider in their efforts. For more information, visit the web site:
