Environmental
Monitoring Buoy on
Eagle Creek Reservoir
The Center for Earth and Environmental Science (CEES)
maintains an Environmental Monitoring Buoy in the
southern portion of Eagle Creek Reservoir. This buoy
measures physical, chemical, and biological
parameters near the surface (1m), middle (3m), and bottom
(6m) of the
lake. Ten parameters are measured every fifteen
minutes and include temperature, dissolved oxygen,
chlorophyll, and turbidity. The buoy is equipped with a
radio transmitter which sends data to Eagle Creek Park
Headquarters and then on to Indiana University ~ Purdue
University Indianapolis (IUPUI).
