SITE LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION

The experimental site extends for approximately 1 mile along the eastern bank of the floodplain of the White River from 10th Street to New York Street in Marion County, Indiana. The site is adjacent to the IUPUI campus in downtown Indianapolis. The site is bounded to the north by the confluence of the Fall Creek and the White River. To the south is White River State Park. To the west is the White River and to the east is an Army Corp of Engineers Flood Control Levee. The site is herein divided into a northern and southern section by the Michigan Street Bridge. The northern section of the study site is bounded to the west by an existing forested wetland and curvilinear insular bar complex. The southern section is bounded to the west directly by the White River. Each section includes approximately 4.5 acres of floodplain.
