Carl H. Johnson Achievement Scholarship

The Carl H. Johnson Achievement Scholarship memorializes Susan Cornacchione’s father. Inspired by Matt and Susan Cornacchione’s daughter, it supports students working in interdisciplinary fields of applied environmental problems. Preference will be shown to a student who is pursuing a degree in earth or environmental sciences or is succeeding in spite of learning challenges. The $750 academic scholarship will apply to the recipient's fall semester tuition. Please download the application linked below for additional information and instructions.

Service Learning Assistant Opportunities with the IUPUI Center for Earth and Environmental Science (CEES)

Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 Semesters

The IUPUI Center for Earth and Environmental Science (CEES) is seeking two IUPUI undergraduate students to support the environmental service learning program as paid service learning assistants during the 2008-2009 school year. The CEES Environmental Service Learning Program leads student participants in environmental stewardship work days in local, public lands to apply classroom concepts to local projects with community partners.  Duties of the service learning assistants will include field and office logistical support, materials identification and compilation, and environmental field research support, among other duties. 

Applicants should possess the following characteristics: 

  • An interest in the earth and environmental sciences or science education

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office computer applications

  • A willingness to work in group settings

  • A willingness to work outdoors in parks and natural areas

  • Availability to work 15 hours per week during the semester (assistants will not be required to work during university vacations)

  • Availability to work weekends

  • Carry at least a 2.75 grade point average
