CEES
is catalyst for environmental stewardship. Research,
education and service programs that raise public
awareness of environmental issues promote informed
environmental decision-making and stewardship, which is
critical to modern urban development and community
well-being. By combining research, education and
service, CEES provides a unique opportunity for students
and citizens to gain the knowledge, skills and
experience they need to make a positive impact on their
natural surroundings today and in the future.
CEES is
located in downtown Indianapolis. The city, as well as
other areas in Marion County, are currently undergoing
extensive urban renewal and rapid expansion into
surrounding rural communities.
CEES’
community outreach programs are designed to raise
awareness of opportunities for sustainable interactions
with the environment. Outreach programs are based at
CEES’ research sites and are customized for individual
requests, age groups, and purpose. Program components
vary and can include ecosystem restoration work days,
research location hikes, and data collection and
monitoring.
Contact the Center for
Earth and Environmental Science if you would like to
discuss outreach program development for your group or
to learn about upcoming outreach events.
